Saidah researched and found that while there were plenty of groups taking the physically handicapped sailing, none were introducing the sea to the developmentally disabled. A cousin with whom he sailed the Mediterranean into his teens later turned schizophrenic and bipolar. That’s when he had the idea to try to use sailing to bring joy to kids with special needs. With more time on hand, Saidah wanted to get back into his lifelong love of sailing.
